Marketing + Communications Fellow


Aliento is a community organization that is undocumented, DACA and youth-led. We are directly impacted people and allies who are invested in the well being, emotional healing, and leadership development of those impacted by the inequalities of lacking an immigration status. 

We use art and community organizing to transform trauma, anxiety, and fear into hope and action. 


Collaborates with our Creative + Digital Director to highlight our programs/events/actions through traditional media and our social media channels. This fellow needs to be familiar with Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook as well as have strong writing skills. This fellow has to have some experience with marketing, press engagement, media releases/statements. 

Type of position: Paid fellowship from now until December. 

Compensation: Rate is $12 to $15/hour - average of 10 hours per week or 40 hours a month.

  • Is detailed oriented, has a strong reflective practice, and has a growth mindset. 

  • Based on our organizational values we highly encourage DACA recipients or individuals who live in a mixed status family to apply. 


  • Work in collaboration with the comms + digital team to amplify Aliento’s work through writing.

  • Work in collaboration with the Digital + Comms team of Aliento to create, edit, and manage content creation and execution to increase our digital footprint. 

  • Provide input, insight, and perspective on marketing and digital strategy for the organization. 

  • Maintain the highest regard for data integrity.

  • Represent the organization in different events, media, etc. 



  • Have a strong reflective practice and have a growth mindset. 

  • Fluent in English and Spanish.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Be able to identify problems or gaps and be solution oriented. 

  • Has 1-2 years of experience working in the communications field. 

  • Ability to adapt to change and process information in a fast-paced environment.  

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Some community college experience desired. 

  • Commitment and passion to arts, immigration, behavioral health, education and other areas that advance the rights of undocumented youth and mixed status families.

  • Experience working with youth desired but not needed. 

  • Experience in the arts desired but not needed.

  • Expertise on social media platforms (i.e. facebook, twitter, instagram).

The Marketing and Communications Fellow will work closely with and report to Diego Lozano, Aliento’s Creative + Digital Director, and will include ongoing coaching support, professional development and opportunities for growth. 

 We will provide office space in Mesa, Arizona out of our office located at 1819 S. Dobson Dr. Ste. 214, Mesa,  AZ 85202.

 This position will ideally start as soon as possible.
