Phoenix, Arizona- On the heels of Prop. 308’s victory, Governor Katie Hobbs announced at the State of the State Address that she is committing $40 million to create the Promise for DREAMers Scholarship to cover all students, regardless of immigration status, who attend a state university.

Gov. Hobbs commencing her term by publicly supporting higher education for Dreamers is a milestone for Arizona. This gesture is a testament to the progress and changing landscape that Arizona is undergoing. Gov. Hobbs’ commitment to supporting Dreamers is supportive of Arizona's goal for 60% of the population to have a college degree by 2030.

Aliento supports Gov. Hobbs’ dedication to Dreamers and to increasing the attainment of higher education for all Arizonans in order to create a more educated Arizona. Aliento commends Gov. Hobbs’ choosing to begin her term by supporting Dreamers. We look forward to working with Gov. Hobbs and the Arizona legislature to ensure this proposal passes.

“This is a great first step for Gov. Hobbs’ support for all students, including our Dreamers. We’re excited for how this could impact the 2,000 Dreamers who graduate from high schools every year. This could potentially put Arizona on the right track to make education more accessible and equitable. We will continue to work for those students and look forward to Hobbs’ following through with this proposal.” - Reyna Montoya, Founder + CEO of Aliento
