Psyched To Dream Scholarship

The Arizona Psychological Foundation is partnering with Aliento to support undocumented, DACA, & mixed-immigrations status. We will select 5 undocumented, DACA, or students from mixed-status families to receive a $1,000 scholarship as well as mentorship through one of the AZ Psychological Foundation members.

AZ Psychological Foundation

The Arizona Psychological Foundation promotes psychological science and practice, which facilitates healing, well-being, and overall mental health literacy for individuals, families, and communities.

Aliento

Aliento is a community organization that serves undocumented, DACA, and mixed immigration status families to transform trauma into hope and action. They are youth-led and directly impacted people and allies who are invested in the well-being, emotional healing, and leadership development of those impacted by the inequities of lacking an immigration status.

Scholarship Eligibility:

  • Must be a graduate of an Arizona high school and plan to attend a post-secondary institution (college or university)

 *This scholarship is open to students pursuing an associate’s or bachelor’s degree

  • Must be undocumented, DACA, and/or part of a mixed status family

  • Must commit to volunteering 20 hours of your time to Aliento

  • Must commit to meeting quarterly with your assigned mentor

  • Must intend to pursue a degree in psychology/mental-health related field

Application Process:

  • Application Deadline: July 31, 2023 @11:59 PM

  • Scholarship Notification Date: Candidates will be notified by early August if they were selected for the scholarship.

Scholarship Checklist:

  • Completed application form

  • Short answer questions

    • What interests or excites you? How does it shape who you are now or who you might become in the future? (250 words minimum)

  • Personal Statement

    • Describe a challenging family or personal circumstance that has affected your achievement in school, work or your community. How did you overcome this challenge and what did you learn from the experience? (500 - 750 words)

  • School transcript

  • Resume

Award Acceptance

You must notify the scholarship of your intent to either accept or decline the scholarship three days after receiving the scholarship notification.
