Jose Patino Dreamer Scholarship

Arizona Dream Scholarship Fund is offering scholarships to 2021-22 Phoenix Union High School District graduates who are DACA recipients or Dreamers meaning who immigrated to the United States before the age of 18 years old.

Background:

This scholarship was created by former and current Phoenix Union High School District students and teachers, as well as community members in support of undocumented & DACA students, pursue a higher education. We want to ensure all students regardless of immigration status in Arizona have the opportunity of a college education. JOSÉ PATIÑO and Juan Reyes are examples of undocumented students continuing their higher educational goals.

AWARD

The scholarship amount varies from a minimum of $1,000 to a maximum of $4,000.

Minimum Requirements

  • Senior with DACA or undocumented status currently attending a high school in the  Phoenix Union High School District 

  • 3.0 GPA or higher

  • Minimum of 20 hours of community service

  • Evidence of extracurricular activities on campus (clubs, sports, etc..)

  • You must be willing to consider a community college education in your first year

  • Applicant must be planning to attend AZ higher education institution

  • Application Closes: May 31st, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST

Scholarship Checklist

  • Completed application

  • Three letters of recommendation ( one coach, two teachers, counselors or mentors)

  • A copy of your transcripts

  • Personal Statement  

  • All the required materials must be mail in a 8-1/2 x 11 envelope

Failure to meet any of these requirements could lead to your disqualification.

Scholarship applications open on March 24th, 2022.

Timeline

  • Application Opens: March 24th, 2022

  • Application Closes: May 31st, 2022 at 11:59 PM PST

  • Winners will be notified by June 30th, 2022

  • Award winners will be made public on July 10th, 2022
