FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

  • What if I already sent in my initial DACA application?

If you have submitted an initial request for DACA, it will remain submitted but will not be processed. The fee will not be returned to you. Currently, only renewals are being processed by USCIS.

  • Can I send in an initial DACA application?

Initial applications will not be approved, but you can still send them in. Our attorneys have advised it is up to your own discretion to submit. We will keep you updated if there are any updates.

  • Do I still have to pay a check/money order of $495?

When submitting your renewal, you must send TWO separate checks/money orders made to: US Department of Homeland Security. One of $85 and one of $410. In the Re/Memo: Write your USCIS # and your full name.

  • What will happen with advance parole? (for approved DACA/Renewals)

USCIS is still processing renewals and advance parole.

We recommend you speak to a trusted attorney if you are planning to apply for Advance Parole.

  • Can I still renew my DACA?

Yes, DACA renewals are currently still being processed by USCIS.

  • Can I renew my DACA online?

Yes, DACA renewals are currently available online on the USCIS website.

In order to send it for attorney approval, Aliento provides assistance with the physical application only.

Can I renew it if my DACA expired over a year ago?

If you file after your most recent DACA period expires, but within one year of its expiration, you may submit a request to renew your DACA. If you are filing beyond one year after your most recent period of DACA expired, you may still request DACA by submitting a new initial request. Please note that since initial requests are currently not being approved, there is a risk of losing your DACA status if you file for renewal beyond one year of expiration.

  • Will I be scheduled for a biometrics appointment if I am renewing my DACA?

You may or may not be scheduled an appointment. If you are scheduled a biometrics appointment, please be sure to go.
