Aliento Awarded UnidosUS Public Service Award

Aliento was awarded the UnidosUS Capital Award for Public Service for our efforts on passing Prop. 308! Our founder and CEO, Reyna Montoya was in Washington D.C. to accept the award on behalf of our organization. We want to thank our partners, voters, educators, business leaders and our youth for making Prop 308 a reality.

We decided to be not only the storytellers but the strategists of our life. And we said we were going to write that bill, we’re not gonna take a no for an answer and we’re going to have the courage to lean in and invite others to join us.”

Every year, UnidosUS recognizes leaders in the Hispanic community who advocate for policies and programs that strengthen and empower the Latino community.

Prop 308’s passing would not have been possible without the work of our volunteers, interns, fellows, and donors. From calling thousands of voters to knocking on hundreds of doors, Prop 308’s victory and this award were only because of your work.

Our impact can already be seen at the Arizona capitol. On the heels of Prop. 308’s victory, Governor Katie Hobbs proposed a 40 million dollar Arizona Promise for Dreamers Program to assist Dreamers in attaining higher education. We commend her proposal and look forward to working with the legislature to get it passed.
